**Recommended steps (in order):**
1. Press the **red emergency-stop button** on the charger. Once the LED goes off, the lock releases and you can remove the gun.
2. After removing it, **turn the red button gently to the right** to reset it, so the charger is usable again for the next customer.

**If that doesn't work:**
- Press the **release button** while gently **wiggling the connector side to side** as you pull. Some vehicle charge ports (including this situation) are stiff, so pulling vertically with a bit of force while pressing the release button also helps.

Here's the sequence that resolves this on the Q4 e-tron (connector locked, app remote-release failing):

1. Confirm the session is actually stopped and the car is in P with power off.
2. Press the connector's release button and pull straight out, firmly and vertically — the Q4's charge-port flap can be stiff, so a normal gentle pull often isn't enough (official Help Center: /sources/ja/public-help/articles/23459052214297.md:16). Pressing the release while wiggling the gun slightly side to side also helps.
3. If it still holds, press the red emergency-stop button on the charger. Once the LED goes out, the lock releases — pull the gun out then.
4. Important: after the gun comes free, turn the red button gently to the right until it pops back up, otherwise the unit stays shut down for the next customer.
5. Alternative if you'd rather not use the red button: press the second blue button from the top of the unit, wait about 30 seconds, and remove the connector once the LED goes off (same red-button reset applies afterwards).

Please don't yank it hard with the car or pry the latch — if none of the above frees it, stop and contact us so we can check the unit. When you do, send: station name, left/right unit (DU1/DU2), LED colour, any error code shown, the charging start time, your user ID, and a photo of the app/charger screen.
