Prompt (en)

What is the difference between the Economy / Regular / Premium charging menus? Why is everything except Economy always 'out of stock' at my usual site, and when will it be resolved?

Expected (en)

Premium (100% pure renewable) and Regular (70% pure renewable) are mainly solar-derived, so in bad weather or low sunlight their generation efficiency drops and they may become unselectable. The difference between Economy and Regular/Premium is the renewable share (environmental value); charging speed does not change by menu. Please use an available menu.

Output

Here's what the three menus are and why Regular/Premium can show as unavailable.

**The difference between the menus**

All three menus charge your car exactly the same way — the only differences are the renewable-energy share (environmental value) and the price. Charging speed/output is identical no matter which menu you pick (/sources/en/runbooks/charging-use.md:234).

- **Premium (100% renewable)** — Charging done with 100% renewable electricity. PowerX uses "additionality" renewable power from newly developed and operating solar plants (via partner companies), with any shortfall covered by non-fossil certificates that meet RE100 standards. It has the highest environmental value.
- **Regular (70% renewable)** — Made up of about 70% renewable power (partly from PowerX's own renewable sources) and 30% regular grid electricity. It balances cost with environmental consideration.
- **Economy** — Uses the electricity from the utility company that the host facility where the charger is installed is contracted with, as-is. The renewable share depends on that site's contract, and it's the most economical option.

(Official description: /sources/ja/public-help/articles/52372827146777.md:20-26, updated 2026-07-22. For reference, general-member pay-as-you-go rates are 65/70/75 yen per kWh for Economy/Regular/Premium — /sources/en/runbooks/billing.md:46.)

**Why everything except Economy is "out of stock" at your site**

Premium and Regular are composed mainly of solar-derived power. When the weather is bad or sunlight is low, solar generation efficiency drops, and those menus can become unselectable — which is why they may appear as "out of stock" while Economy remains available (/sources/en/runbooks/escalation.md:55). If your usual site is affected frequently or for extended periods, it may simply be a location where the solar supply is more weather-sensitive.

**When will it be resolved?**

There's no fixed restoration date I can quote — availability depends on solar generation conditions, so the menus typically become selectable again when sunlight conditions improve (e.g., on clearer days). I don't have a published timeline for a permanent fix at specific sites, and I don't want to guess.

**What I'd suggest in the meantime**

- Please use an available menu (Economy) — your charging speed and the charging experience are exactly the same; you just won't get the higher renewable share on that session.
- If you specifically want the renewable menus, try again on days with better weather/sunlight, or check whether another nearby site has them available.

If the unavailability persists over a long period regardless of weather, let me know the site name and I can pass it on to the relevant team as feedback for investigation.

**What actually differs between the three menus**

The only real difference is the renewable-energy share (i.e. the environmental value) of the electricity — and the price. Charging output/speed is identical on all three menus, and it also does not change by membership type.

- **Premium — 100% renewable:** uses "additionality" renewable power from solar plants newly developed and brought online through PowerX partner companies, with the shortfall covered by non-fossil certificates meeting RE100 criteria. Highest environmental value; effectively zero CO₂ for the electricity you charge.
- **Regular — ~70% renewable:** partly PowerX's own renewable generation, blended 70% renewable / 30% general grid power. Designed to balance cost and environmental consideration.
- **Economy — follows the host facility's contract:** uses the electricity the installation site's own utility contract supplies, so the renewable share varies from site to site. The simplest and cheapest option.

Reference: /sources/ja/public-help/articles/52372827146777.md:20-25 (official Help Center article, updated 2026-07-22); speed equivalence at /sources/en/runbooks/charging-use.md:234 and /sources/en/runbooks/compatibility.md:139. For scale, 50 kWh on Regular leaves 15 kWh grid-derived ≈ 6.345 kg CO₂ (0.423 kg-CO₂/kWh, FY2023 Agency for Natural Resources and Resources figure), versus 0 kg on Premium — /sources/ja/public-help/articles/24483463716505.md:29-32.

Indicative per-kWh rates: general membership 65 yen (Economy) / 70 (Regular) / 75 (Premium); PowerX First members get roughly ¥20/kWh off, from 45/50/55 yen — /sources/en/runbooks/charging-use.md:105, /sources/en/runbooks/membership.md:186.

**Why only Economy is selectable at your usual site**

Premium and Regular are built mainly from solar-derived power, so when weather is poor or sunlight is insufficient, generation efficiency drops and those menus can become unselectable ("out of stock") at a given location. Economy draws the site's ordinary contracted electricity, so it stays available regardless of sunlight. This is documented guidance for exactly this complaint at /sources/en/runbooks/escalation.md:55 (CS-117) — and the same text notes that menu choice never changes charging speed, so using Economy costs you nothing in charge time.

**When it will be resolved**

I can't give you a date. The available sources explain the cause but contain no restoration timeline, no site-level availability data, and no commitment about how long Regular/Premium remain unavailable at a specific location — so any date I gave would be invented. What the guidance does say is simply to use whichever menu is available for that reservation.

Two practical notes:
- Because Premium/Regular availability tracks solar output, they are more likely to be selectable in bright daytime conditions than in the evening or on overcast/rainy days.
- Economy is not automatically "non-green": its renewable share depends on the host facility's own electricity contract, so at some sites it may already carry a meaningful renewable portion.

If you tell me the site name, I can note the pattern (Regular/Premium persistently unavailable, not just on cloudy days) as feedback — but I can't confirm that any change will be made or when, and I won't say an action was taken unless it's confirmed.

充電メニュー3種類の違いは「使う電気の再生可能エネルギー比率(環境価値)」と単価だけで、充電の速さ(出力)はどのメニューでも共通です(/sources/ja/runbooks/charging-use.md:234、/sources/ja/runbooks/compatibility.md:139)。

メニューの概要(/sources/ja/public-help/articles/52372827146777.md:20-25)

現在は非化石証書の外部調達を組み合わせ、再エネ100%を安定的に確保する「再エネメニュー」の仕組みに移行しています(/sources/ja/public-help/articles/52372068113689.md:20-28)。
