Prompt (en)

I joined PowerX First while charging. Output is 20-30kW, not 150kW. Why?

Expected (en)

Maximum output (150kW) is unrelated to membership type. Output can be auto-limited by ambient or charger temperature and depends on the vehicle's acceptance capacity.
For details, see: How much is the charging output: https://support-evcs.power-x.jp/hc/ja/articles/23123162280473

Output

Joining PowerX First doesn't change charging speed — that's not the cause. Here's what's actually going on:

**Membership doesn't affect output.** The maximum output (150kW) is unrelated to whether you're a PowerX First member or a general member. First membership changes your price (discounted rate per kWh), reservation privileges, and max charging time — not the speed (/sources/en/runbooks/charging-use.md:46, /sources/en/runbooks/charging-troubleshooting.md:460).

**150kW is a maximum, not a constant.** Per the official Help Center article, the max is 150kW when one port is in use, and 120kW when two ports (two vehicles) are charging simultaneously (/sources/ja/public-help/articles/23123162280473.md:20).

**Actual output varies with conditions**, so it may not reach the maximum (/sources/en/runbooks/charging-use.md:27):
- **Ambient or charger temperature** — the charger automatically limits output when it's hot or cold
- **Your vehicle's acceptance capacity** — the charger adjusts to what your car can take in
- **Battery state of charge (SOC)** — output naturally tapers as the battery fills up; this is normal behavior, not a malfunction (/sources/en/runbooks/charging-troubleshooting.md:460)

A reading of 20–30kW is typically the result of one or more of these factors — most commonly a warm battery/charger, high ambient temperature, or a battery that's already fairly charged.

One reassurance: billing is based on the energy actually delivered (kWh), not time, so a lower output doesn't put you at a pricing disadvantage (/sources/en/runbooks/charging-troubleshooting.md:460).

If the output stays unusually low even with a low battery and mild temperatures, let us know your vehicle model and the station, and we can check the individual case.

Output

Short answer: PowerX First doesn't change charging speed — the 150 kW figure is the station's maximum, not a guaranteed output, and membership type has no effect on it.

What the guidance says:

- Maximum output is 150 kW when a single port is used, and up to 120 kW when two ports charge simultaneously. Output does not vary by plan or membership (en/runbooks/charging-use.md:27, en/runbooks/charging-use.md:46).
- Charging speed is the same for PowerX First and general members, and the same across the Economy/Regular/Premium menus — those menus differ only in price and renewable-energy ratio (en/runbooks/compatibility.md:139).
- Actual output is commonly held down by: ambient temperature and charger temperature (automatic limiting), the vehicle's own maximum acceptance capacity, and rising state of charge — output declining as the battery fills is normal behaviour (en/runbooks/charging-troubleshooting.md:460).

So a 20–30 kW reading is most consistent with the vehicle's acceptance curve, battery temperature, a high SOC, or the second port being in use on the unit — not with the membership change you made mid-session.

Two things worth knowing:
- Billing is per kWh (volume-based), not per minute, so a slower session does not cost you extra in time charges (en/runbooks/charging-troubleshooting.md:460).
- If the session looks genuinely wrong, the standard first steps are to return the connector to the unit and start again with "Charge again", or try the opposite charger (en/runbooks/charging-troubleshooting.md:197).

The workspace does not contain a per-vehicle output table, so I can't confirm the exact cause for your car. If you send the vehicle model, SOC at the time, battery temperature/cold-soak conditions, the station and time, and whether the other port was in use, I can check the case specifics against the station and output references.
